88 YJ-CJ Throttle Cable Parts!

The weather wasn't great this morning, so I worked on the throttle cable.

I started with a simple aluminum spacer on the lathe to shorten the amount of the bracket inside the cab. The pedal comes pretty close to the firewall, so there's not a lot of space for long parts.

Spacer on the throttle cable:

Throttle cable screwed into the firewall. Note that the nut is flush with the end of the threaded portion, which was the goal of the spacer.

The clevis attachment to the pedal.  After a test fit, it's still too long. So, I'm going to have to replace the clevis.

Instead of the clevis mount, I'm going to make an aluminum version of the stock accelerator cable mount - it's nylon in the stock version. I'll hold my aluminum version in place with a snap ring:

Factory YJ version - the white nylon piece that snaps in place:

Holes were drilled already, and now parting it off:

It fits great. One downside...to get at the retaining ring, you'll have to unbolt the pedal from the firewall. But that's not something that will need to be done often.

Next up...cleaning and painting the accelerometer pedal.
