88 YJ-CJ Miscellaneous Stuff

I've been working on lots of smaller tasks:

Insulation, Heater, Electrical:

Firewall insulation finished and Heater/Defroster installed:

I have a lot more to do, but the wiring harness was started.  I'm organizing all the different bundles on my living room floor.

Test fitting the wiring harness:

Gauges and Dash:

My new Speedhut gauges arrived, so I also got started on the dash mods:

The blue tape signifies all the mods or repairs that need to be done - you'll see much more of this in the future.

Sticker removal - this one was easy:

Sticker removal - this one was easy too:

Black trim removal - the trim was easy to remove...

But it left a horrible adhesive residue on the dash - lots of elbow grease was required!

Heater Hoses and Heater Wiring:

Heater hoses installed...I'm not in love with them, and may re-do one or both of them.

All the heater wires were zip-tied together, which is a poor way to do it.  I wrapped them with proper Tesa Tape.

Roll Bar:

I stupidly started cleaning up the roll bar one afternoon.  I should have just left it alone, as it isn't a high priority.  But the old roll cage remnants from the previous owner really bothered me.  I cleaned up the remnants, and stripped it, and got it ready for paint:

I had some help from my trusty sidekick!

Stripping:

The roll bar had several layers of paint on it from the previous owner.

Roll bar fully stripped and cleaned:

All the other bolts and extensions for the Roll Bar are also clean and ready to paint:

Roll Bar Extensions to Windshield cleaned up:

Roll Bar Epoxy Primed:

Roll Bar Bolts epoxy primed:

Roll Bar Windshield Extension Bars Epoxy Primed...cluttered picture.  There are two small bars and two long bars:

All the roll bar parts also got red:

All the roll bar parts will just be set aside for quite a while until the rest of the interior is done.

Evap Cannister:

Since I'm using a 91-95 YJ gas tank, I'm also using a matching 91-95 Evap Cannister - used from eBay.

Fuel Filter and Fuel Line:

I looked at a few different locations for the fuel filter, and finally ended up on top of the frame on a custom angle bracket:

I added a new 3/8" fuel line for the thirsty V8, and made a 10mm Bubble Flare on the end to help with hose retention.  You can kind of see the bubble on the end of the hard line in this picture:

Rear line all bent up:

Bubble Flare tool:

New 3/8" line installed using the 3 factory clips:

Fuel line connections near the gas tank.  All the hoses were wrapped with hydraulic hose wrap to prevent chafing:

Rear lines all finished:

I still need to complete the front line - it is straight, short, and will be easy:
