88 YJ-CJ Steering Column...broken spring

Steering Column:

Small update...I finally started re-assembling the steering column. I took it apart back in December. I'd like to think that I was doing other things (and I was), but I was really just procrastinating.

It was frigid cold a few days ago, and everything was pretty much shut down. I was already prepared for reassembly inside my house, so assembling the steering column seemed like an obvious thing to do.

I got started, made some good progress, and then found a broken spring. A new one is on order. That'll set me back another week or so while I wait for the part. That stupid little spring is difficult to find and expensive. I may have broken it on disassembly, as it's in a tricky position.

95 YJ Fuel Line Distraction:

My 95 YJ is still most out of commission until I do the the transmission swap.  I ran it around the block a few days ago to get it warm and keep the battery charged up.  I smelled gas after I got back, which was not normal.  I traced it up to a leaking -AN hose that I installed back in 2014.  It's not a factory hose - I had to make a couple of custom hoses when I swapped from the 2.5L to the 4.0L.

The top ends of the hoses are up on the engine's fuel rail.  They use a special clip-type fitting.

The other end of the hoses are down on the frame.  Same special clip-type fitting.

I bought some new hose, and re-made both hoses.  Only one was leaking, but if one failed, then I figured the other may not be far behind.  I used the same hose ends.

The dirty hoses are the old hoses, of course:
