More Driver Front Fender - May 11, 2020

Some minor progress:

0) The replacement wheel well lip is basically done.  I need to trim back the existing fender to match, and then weld in the new piece.  I don't have an original fender available, so I just made the curve happy to my eye.  I also made a second piece to match for the passenger side fender, so both sides will "match".  They will likely be slightly different than an original, but I can't imagine that anyone will ever notice.

1) All 3 patches were trimmed to fit, and most of the remaining rust was cleaned with my awesome Harbor Freight Blaster.   I also sprayed weld-thru primer on the 3 patch areas.

The Blaster works pretty well for small areas.  I have $30 in this setup - $20 for the gun and $10 for a 50lb bag of media from Tractor Supply.  I'm going to use it for the rest of the inside corners and difficult to clean areas on the fenders.

The picture below is  after one cleaning.  I did a 2nd pass to get more of the rust off.

For comparison:

I was well on my way to doing some weld tacks, but I couldn't get the .024 wire to feed thru my liner.  Bought a new liner, and will hopefully be welding sometime this week.
