Driver's Front Fender - May 2, 2020

It's been almost a year since my real Jeepster status update. Honestly, I haven't done much to it in that time. But the past few days, I cleaned up one of the fenders. The fender came off of the donor Jeepster, and I thought it was better than it was...it had up to a 1/4" of bondo in one place, there's 3 rust through holes that shouldn't be too bad to patch, and worst of all, the inside was undercoated with asphalt. A heat gun and scraper worked fairly well to remove the asphalt. Part of the fender well lip has also been cut - I'm assuming for more tire clearance. There were some other parts of the inner wheel well that were also notched out for some reason.

It's not a great fender, but I'm going to try to save it:
0) Finish cleaning up the seams and inside corners (this will be no fun)
1) Repair the minor collision damage and move the metal back into better position.  I'll still need some bondo, but hopefully not 1/4" thick.
2) Fix the rust through areas
3) Weld a patch on the wheel well lip
4) Weld up the fender flare holes (the holes aren't factory - this fender shouldn't have a flare)
5) Get some epoxy primer on it - I have everything I need...except a paint respirator. It's impossible to buy a paint respirator right now - they are all being used for Covid 19.

I promise that you will get another update before May 2021 :-)

Old school - drill a hole, pull the dent out (a little) with a lide hammer, and add 1/4" of Bondo:
