LS1 Engine - July 3, 2020
Fun stuff today...
Last night, I started worrying that the axle, as currently placed, may interfere with the engine. So, I decided to get the engine from my office this morning and get it ready to set in place. The engine is a 2004 LS1 out of a Corvette with about 83k miles. I've had it stored at my office for over a year - luckily we have a lot of floor space!
Engine Specs below...350 hp should be a fun drive. This engine is ideal because the Corvette has the shortest accessories of all the LS engines. It will be tight to fit everything between the grill and firewall, so saving 1.5" with the Corvette accessories helps a lot. The oil pan is also low profile, and the aluminum block saves a little bit of weight.
I had an LM7 engine (5.3L LS truck engine) before this one, and I wasn't completely comfortable with my lifting points on that engine. So I had picked up (and painted red) a pair of Motobilt Lifting Brackets that bolt to the heads. They are awesome.
