88 YJ-CJ...CJ7 Front Clip!

More fun stuff today...the YJ turned into a CJ7:

Two fenders installed - the lower edge of both inner fenders needed quite a bit of trimming:

Grill added - it needed trimming to clear the steering box.  And more trimming might be needed to clear the frame on the lower corners:

This is the entire reason why the front clip was installed today - to check the radiator and fan clearance.  I was going to use a thermal clutch fan, but there's not enough clearance to the radiator.  The radiator isn't shown, but it sits flush with the recess in the grill.  On to Plan B!  (Either an electric fan or shallow mechanical fan will be used.)

Classic!

Chase has been camera shy lately, but I got a shot of him today!
As you can tell from the different paint colors, three different CJ7s donated parts for this transformation.

The swap to CJ7 is only temporary - the blue parts will be put back on this weekend to keep my HOA happy!  And that will give me a chance to clean, straighten and paint the CJ7 parts.

As you can probably guess, there are a thousand little details and tasks on this project...I did some other stuff today too.
- the transmission dipstick was installed
- the flywheel inspection cover was installed
- torque converter was bolted to the flexplate
- new battery hold down bolts were modified to fit the 88 YJ battery box
