88 YJ 350 Front Accessories

More assembly...at this point, very little is just bolting on easily...everything is from a different time period:

  • the crate engine block dates to the 1980s
  • aftermarket heads
  • Rams Horn Exhaust Manifolds that date from ~1970
  • A serpentine belt drive from a ~1992 Chevy 350.

It all sort of goes together, but not perfectly.

Water pump installed - it's a reverse rotation pump because of the later serpentine belt setup

Serpentine bracket and alternator:

Fun stuff...classic Rams Horn Exhaust Manifolds - I really like them.  They have a  full 2.5" collector - typically found on Corvettes :-).  (2" was the common size on trucks, cars, etc)

(and boring spark plugs were also installed)

Power Steering Pump - there's a rear bracket (not shown) for the power steering pump and alternator that attaches to the exhaust manifold.  I'll have to modify that bracket to work with the Rams Horn manifold.

Motor mounts also installed - they came with the YJ, and I'm going to try to use them.

Passenger serpentine bracket test fit - I still need to clean it.  Only 2 of the 3 bolts lined up.

And I had to grind off some of the water pump where it rubbed on the bracket (not shown).

So I drilled and tapped the missing hole while hoping that I didn't drill into the water jacket.  It all worked out fine :-)

The accessories are mostly ready to go at this point.  I'm getting closer to a test fit of the engine...
