The 304 V8 Runs! - June 2018
The 1973 Commando wasn't running when I bought it.
But it wasn't too hard to get it running with a new battery and some clean gas:
Later, a friend of mine came over and was crawling under the Commando, and noticed a "Rebuild" tag on the side of the engine block. That gave me hope that the engine was in good shape.
So, I bought a bunch of parts from Amazon and Rock Auto - HEI distributor, plugs, water pump, power steering pump, radiator, etc. I also rebuilt all 4 brakes and replaced the master cylinder. I only moved it under power on the driveway - the transmission seemed to be good too.
Here's a video with some of the new parts. The carb was never rebuilt, so it's not running great.
