Swag Bandsaw Stand and Wilton Vise - December 2019

Not really a Jeepster Update, but tools used on the Jeepster :-)

Last year I bought a Milwaukee deep cut bandsaw and then a Swag stand for it.  Unfortunately, I never married them, so they both sat lonely and afraid in the dark recesses of my shop.  I use an angle grinder most of the time, which works well.

Over Thanksgiving, I was cutting some brackets out of 1/4" plate, and wanted more precision than my angle grinder.  I finally setup the saw, and it worked amazingly well.  Very precise and very fast, and no sparks flying everywhere.  I also bought the Swag foot switch, and it works okay too.  I'm not thrilled with the 6" of exposed blade, so I may try to rig up a guard of some type.  Highly recommended!

Yesterday, there was a swap meet up in Belton, and I picked up a Wilton 4.5" vise.  I've needed a vise upgrade for a while, as my only other vise is a 3" Wilton.

It doesn't have a swivel base, which is unfortunate.  It has some wear, but not enough to hurt anything (it was built in 1961).  It has a pretty large opening, which will be helpful.  I think my friend Mark has  an oxy setup - hopefully, that will help heat up and straighten the handle.
