1995 Jeep YJ Details - January 14, 2021

My Jeep YJ gets mentioned in a lot of these posts - mostly because it's a distraction that takes time away from the Jeepster. I drive it to work frequently, and take it off road occasionally.

It is a 1995 that I bought it back in 2013 for about $3k.  I thought my son would like it - kind of a father-son project Jeep, but he wasn't interested.  So it became my project.  It was originally a 4 cylinder with a 5 speed, so it wasn't a speed demon.  Probably 30" tires.

As purchased:
(kind of gaudy with all the chrome!)

I did a few upgrades (chrome removal!), and took it to a local off road park.  We had a blast, and then started planning other off road upgrades

2013

Many parts have been changed or upgraded:
Engine from a 4cyl to 6cyl
Different 5 speed transmission (AX5 to AX15)- because of the 6 cyl.
4:1 transfer case out of a TJ Rubicon
Ford Truck Dana 44 Front with Detroit locker
Ford Truck 8.8 rear with ARB air locker
35" tires
Tube fenders, front and rear for tire clearance
Rock crawler bumpers front and rear
New seats, etc
Basically, almost every part on it is new.
Most of the upgrades were done from 2013 to 2017.  I haven't done anything major recently.  I drive it to work, etc, when the weather is nice.

It's been to Moab, several Jeep Jamborees and to all the local off road parks.  I've done a lot of specific upgrades to make it very capable off road.

Moab - the YJ is leading the JKU, as it should be
